Job Searching Online Tip

By Marion Abbott · 28 October 2025

Doncour job search tip: while job hunting you may feel inclined to share your CV and certificates on social media so a recruiter notices you, but never share your ID number, home address or referee contact details. Fraudsters use these to steal identities and open accounts in your name, and people have even been married off to con artists without knowing. Research before sharing, and give your details only to reputable recruiters and companies. Contact head office on 031 466 1572 or hr@doncour.co.za.

Job Search Tip: Connecting Talent with Opportunity Across All Industries

While searching for employment, you might feel inclined to share your CV and certificates on social media (or within groups) in hopes that a recruiter will notice your skills and experience.

However, it is advisable to refrain from disclosing all of your personal information on social media, and you should NEVER EVER share your ID Number, home address, or referee contact details!

Fraudsters can exploit this information to steal your identity, create accounts in your name, and there have even been instances where individuals have been unwittingly married off to con artists. Always conduct thorough research before sharing your information and make sure to only provide it to reputable recruiters and companies!
