OPERATIONAL MANAGER – PRODUCTION DIVISION (FREE STATE PROVINCE)
ABOUT THE CLIENT: Manufacturers of animal feed for both internal and external customers in the ruminant and monogastric industries ((Poultry, Cattle, Pig etc.)
JOB SUMMARY:
You will oversee all operational aspects of the animal feed plant to ensure production and delivery targets are met and that the finished product meet the specified quality standards of the company. Control production costs to drive profitability and achieve production targets. Ensure final product quality standards are met and continuously improve systems and processes. Efficiently manage stock. Ensure safety compliance, Mentor, coach, and train production staff. Drive the profitability of production through the control and management of production costs. Ensure the safety of production staff and that safety and/or statutory requirements are
adhered to at all times. Repairs and Maintenance of production assets
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12
- BSc. Agricultural Science or Engineering Qualification would be advantageous
- 5+ years’ experience in relevant role
- Responsible for HSE reporting to you.
- Experience in an Animal Feed Plant / milling preferred
- Experience in production and scheduling
- Practical experience in a feed plant and knowledge of the equipment in the production process
- Knowledge of quality controls and processes within a feed pant
- Financial acumen
- A solid understanding of processes and how sections fit in, is crucial to work together with the Senior Technical Specialist to produce alternative ways to fix problems, and to see which proposed solutions will not work
IMPORTANT SKILLS RELEVANT TO THE POSITION:
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Can work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail
